| Know Yourself and Your Potential |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
The key is to be true to yourself, to be true to the very best that is in you, and to live your life consistent with your highest values and aspirations.
Take some time to think about who you are and what you believe in and what is important to you. Decide that you will never compromise your integrity by trying to be or say or feel something that is not true for you. Have the courage to accept yourself as you really are-not as you might be, or as someone else thinks you should be-and know that, taking everything into consideration, you are a pretty good person.
After all, we all have our own talents, skills and abilities that make us extraordinary. No one, including yourself, has any idea of your capabilities or of what you might ultimately do or become. Perhaps the hardest thing to do in life is to accept how extraordinary you really can be, and then to incorporate this awareness into your attitude and personality.

| Make a Change |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
The starting point of changing your beliefs is to get up the courage to question them seriously. Question your basic premises. Check your assumptions. Ask yourself, “What assumptions am I making about myself or my situation that might not be true?”
It’s a fact that we fall in love with our excuses and our negative assumptions. We fall in love with our reasons for not moving ahead.
The author Richard Bach wrote this beautiful line: “Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they’re yours.” Very often, we become the prosecuting attorney in the case against ourselves. We dispute and argue and attempt to prove to ourselves and others that our limitations are real. And the less justification these ideas or beliefs have, the more adamant we become in attempting to prove them to others.
Whatever they are, resolve to challenge them. Hold them up to the light. Imagine that you had absolute confidence in yourself in a particular area. Then, act as if it were impossible to fail, and it shall be!

| Enterprise |
by Andre Abouzeid
|

Human beings have the remarkable ability to turn nothing into something. They can turn weeds into gardens and pennies into fortunes.
Enterprise is better than ease.
Showing a profit means touching something and leaving it better than you found it.
Enterprise is the hope of our future.
Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living; profits make you a fortune.
We all know a variety of ways to make a living. What’s even more fascinating is figuring out ways to make a fortune.
Kids ought to have two bicycles, one to ride and one to rent.... |

| Concentration |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
Concentration is having the self-discipline to force yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing, the most important thing, and stay with it until it’s complete.
The two key words for success have always been focus and concentration.
Focus is knowing exactly what you want to be, have, and do. Concentration is persevering, without diversion or distraction, in a straight line toward accomplishing the things that can make a real difference in your life.
When you allow yourself to begin to dream big dreams, creatively abandon the activities that are taking up too much of your time, and focus your inward energies on alleviating your main constraints, you start to feel an incredible sense of power and confidence. As you focus on doing what you love to do and becoming excellent in those few areas that can make a real difference in your life, you begin to think in terms of possibilities rather than impossibilities, and you move ever closer toward the realization of your full potential.

| Do the Thing You Fear |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “If you would become a success, you must resolve to confront your fears. If you do the things you fear, the death of fear is certain.”
You develop courage in yourself by facing your fears and doing the things that you are most afraid to do. In business, the greatest fear (after the fears of firing someone or being fired and financial loss or bankruptcy) is the fear of confrontation. Many people are afraid to make hard choices and deal with people in a clear, unequivocal, and straightforward way. They fear angry responses, argument, and conflict. This inability to confront people both inside and outside of the business can often be fatal to the enterprise.
Fortunately, courage can be developed by acting courageously. When you do something that you fear, you feel more courageous. In life, the courage follows the courageous behavior. You become courageous by acting courageously, even when you do not feel like it. Emerson also wrote, “Do the thing and you will have the power.” Don’t be afraid to make hard decisions, especially with regard to people and expenses.

| You can do more of certain things |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
What are the things that you should do more of? Obviously you should do more of the things that are working the very best for you already.
You should use more of the marketing and sales methods that are getting you face to face with the best customers, the ones that buy the most readily and who most appreciate the special features and benefits of your products and services.
It is amazing how many sales people lose track of their most effective selling methods, including networking on a regular basis with other sales professionals in your area, and start off doing something new, different and unproven. Then they are surprised when their sales drop and their income declines. Sometimes, the very best thing you can do is to get back to doing what is already working the very best for you.

| Clarity |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
Clarity simply means that you know exactly what it is you want and is perhaps the most important luck factor of all, at least at the beginning.
The more definite you are about what you want, the more alert and aware you will be of opportunities and possibilities to achieve it faster. All successful people are absolutely clear about who they are and what they want, and what they need to do to get from wherever they are to wherever they want to go. Unsuccessful, unhappy people, on the other hand, are usually quite fuzzy about what it is they stand for and believe in, and what it is they really want from their lives.
As the old saying goes, “You can’t hit a target you can’t see.” Or, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” So called “lucky” people seem to be very, very clear about their goals and the steps they will have to take to achieve them.

| Appreciation |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
Whenever you express appreciation to others for something they have done, small or large, their self-esteem increases. They feel more valuable and important. They feel more competent and capable. Their self-image improves and their self-respect soars.
And how do you trigger this wonderful feeling in others? It is simple. You say “thank you” on every occasion, for any large or small reason. You make a habit of thanking everyone in your world for everything they do. Thank your secretary for her work. Thank your spouse for his help. Thank your children for anything they do that you appreciate.
Here is a double payoff: Whenever you smile or say thank you to another person, not only does that person’s self-esteem and feeling of importance jump, but so does yours. You actually like yourself more every time you do or say anything that causes other people to like themselves more.
And the more you like yourself, the more you will genuinely like and care about others. The more you like yourself, the less concerned you will be about whether you are making a good impression, and the more naturally charming you will become.

| Words/Vocabulary |
by Andre Abouzeid
|
| |
The two great words of antiquity are behold and beware. Behold the possibilities and beware the temptations.
Vocabulary enables us to interpret and to express. If you have a limited vocabulary, you will also have a limited vision and a limited future.
Well-chosen words mixed with measured emotions is the basis of affecting people.
It’s OK to send flowers, but don’t let the flowers do all the talking. Flowers have a limited vocabulary. About the best flowers can say is that you remembered. But your words tell the rest.
Words do two major things: They provide food for the mind and create light for understanding and awareness.... |
